This tool was born out of frustration with the opaque pricing model of public chargers in Portugal, aiming to provide a clear pricing comparison to help users make informed choices.

Sadly, Mobie has persistently refused to provide access to their API for over a year, so I have given up trying to keep this updated and I am unable to generate usage statistics. Instead, this table gives a summary of the situation in May 2025 with typical OPC/CEME costs. EDP-30% has been highlighted as it is a good offer due to inclusion of the TAR, but you need to be a customer and a member of UVE. The 11kW entries show how the per-minute OPC charges penalise slower AC charging used by Tesla, absurdly making it more expensive than fast DC.

This table continues to show that the public chargers are consistently more expensive than independent providers, such as Continente and Tesla. If, like me, you live in an appartment and cannot charge at home, then you have limited choices about how to charge for daily use. I believe that this is a direct disincentive for people to buy an EV, as the inflated cost of charging plus the higher initial cost makes it unfeasible for many consumers who might otherwise consider it.

EV users are being exploited by a quasi-monopoly managed by Mobie, so let's hope that the new legal framework will lead to fairer prices.
